Marie Masson

Marie E. Masson received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Puerto Rico in 1996. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, Ms. Masson continued her education at the Florida State University College of Law, where she served as an intern at the Supreme Court of Florida and earned her Juris Doctorate degree in 2000. Her primary areas of practice include workers’ compensation, general liability and labor and employment. Ms. Masson handles all aspects of trial litigation and appeals. Throughout her career, Ms. Masson has represented several Fortune 500 companies in the industries of food and beverage, entertainment, retail, hospitality, telecommunications, transportation, and health care.

Ms. Masson is a partner at HERNANDEZ, HICKS & VALOIS, a minority-owned, A-rated insurance defense firm focusing on litigation in Florida since 2002. She is the managing partner at the firm’s Orlando office. She is admitted to practice in all state courts in Florida, as well as in the Northern, Middle and Southern federal district courts in Florida. Ms. Masson is a member of the Workers’ Compensation and Labor and Employment sections of the Florida Bar, a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association and the American Bar Association, and she has served as secretary for the Puerto Rican Bar Association of Florida. She is certified as an insurance instructor with the State of Florida and regularly conducts seminars for employers, servicing agents and carriers. Ms. Masson contributes to various legal periodicals, including the International Association of Defense Counsel.

As a lifetime choir singer, Ms. Masson strongly supports the arts and music education for children. She is also an avid horseback rider and enjoys riding through Central Florida’s various trails with her children, when not engaged in her legal practice. Of course, she has made sure her children can aptly sing the “War Chant” and “Fight Song” while cheering on the FSU Seminoles.
