2012 Florida Diversity Festival

Greetings, Community Partners and Friends

The Hodges University Diversity Committee is hard at work planning our 5th Annual Diversity Festival that will be held on March 3, 2012.

Our Festival’s theme “Embrace Diversity, Empower Our World” reflects our commitment to the Hodges University Diversity Initiative, which is a comprehensive, campus-wide endeavor devoted to enhancing and promoting diversity and inclusion at Hodges University via the development and implementation of school-wide programs related to diversity. Programs include: Student Relations, Faculty Relations, Staff Relations and Community Relations.

Regarding the Community, our major focus is to build bridges to the larger community and to work with groups to bring a wider and more highlighted focus to the experience of diversity and inclusion. Our Diversity Festival is this Community Relations initiative at work.

Our site for the 2012 event will be the Sugden Regional Park located at 4284 Avalon Drive in East Naples off of the East Tamiami Trail.

Sugden Regional Park have many amenities for our guest to enjoy such as; a beach for swimming; open play area; sand volleyball court; a 60 mile lake; two fishing piers; paddleboats; kayaks and more.

The entertainment will be even more exciting this year with a host of returning and new talent. We will also be entertained by our local elementary, middle and high school students. There will be award ceremonies and poetry recitals.

In addition, our vendors will be disseminating valuable and educational public service information from the stage and from their booths.

There will be marching bands, drummers, singers and dance performers from our diverse communities; beautiful arts and crafts to admire and purchase, as well as an outdoor “Fine Art Gallery” and “Cultural Heritage Exhibit”.

The local fire and safety departments will be on hand to demonstrate the latest in equipment and readiness. There will be clowns, face painting, bounce houses, and a variety of games and arts and crafts for our children to enjoy. In addition, we have some great surprises in store for the children.

We are very happy to state that our local restaurants will again be providing a vast variety of delicious multi-cultural food to sample and enjoy.

One of the highlight of the day will be our “Parade of Nations”. The array of fashions, styles, colors and historical information regarding the clothing will be both educational and entertaining.

To ensure the success of this important, inclusive and educational community outreach event, we are requesting your support in the form of sponsorships, entertainment, and food/ merchandise vendors. Participation at any of the levels is encouraged, and will be of the greatest importance to the success of the Festival.
