Major Gary RichardsonDUTY TITLES: Director of External Training and Leadership Team Awareness Seminar, Air National Guard and Active Duty Air Force Service Liaison Officer (SLO). In this capacity, Major Richardson serves as the Air National Guard Service Liaison Officer between the National Guard Bureau and DEOMI. Major Richardson designs, develops, and implements curriculum for External Training on Human Relations and Diversity. He and his team travel the world to deliver training to senior leaders and executives of the DOD, DHS, ICE and all branches of the armed forces. Additionally, she serves as a platform instructor and facilitator for both EOAC 12 week course and EOARCC 6 week course at DEOMI. To date, he has trained over 10,000 civilian and military participants.

EDUCATION: Major Richardson holds a Master’s Degree in Military Arts and Sciences from the Air and Command Staff College at Maxwell, AFB Alabama. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Empire State College of New York State in February of 2000.

AWARDS: Major Richardson’s awards include the Blacks in Government, Meritorious Service Award in 2011, Equal Opportunity Director of the Year in 2009, the Meritorious Service Medal with two devices, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Meritorious Unit Award, AF Outstanding Unit Award, AF Organizational Excellence Award, National Defense Service Medal with one device, AF Longevity Service with 4 devices, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and the AF Training Ribbon.

PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION: Major Gary Richardson served in the Air Force for four and a half years before leaving active duty and joining the Air National Guard in 1993. During his active duty career, he was stationed at Griffiss AFB, NY and was assigned to the Civil Engineering Squadron as a welder. Major Richardson has a combined 27 years of military experience and has been an adjunct instructor at DEOMI since 2005. He is also a 20 year veteran of the New York State Police where he served as the Equal Employment Opportunity Compliance Officer and held the rank of Lieutenant. Major Richardson is a member of the National Diversity Council, Former Diversity Chair Member for CNY SHRM, Orlando Diversity Series, and is the Founder and CEO of his own Diversity Consulting Firm.
