Cultural Ambassador
Seminole Tribe of Florida

Everett Osceola was born on the Seminole tribe of Florida’s Hollywood reservation, and he was partially raised on the Brighton reservation. Everett was brought up to respect his traditional Seminole ways by his mother and her family — mostly instilled by his Grandfather Frank Shore. Osceola graduated from Valencia Community College with an associate degree in psychology. He worked for Seminole Media Production’s Broadcasting Department for 3 years before accepting a position with the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum as an outreach specialist. At the museum, Osceola shares some of the same traditional values and history that were bestowed to him. He helps with Seminole Boys & Girls club by talking to the youth and was given a great opportunity to work with the Seminole Channel. Working for the tribe, Osceola has spoken on many occasions throughout the U.S. as well as countries such as New Zealand, Germany, and China.

Osceola has had a strong presence in Broward County, coordinating events with local organizations to showcase Native culture in Fort Lauderdale, where Seminoles once thrived along the New River before being displaced by settlers. Osceola made history last April when he was appointed to the board of directors of the Fort Lauderdale’s Historic Stranahan House Museum. He has been involved with the Stranahan House for many years, sharing the rich culture of the Seminole Tribe. April Kirk, Executive Director of the Stranahan shares, “Everett’s inclusion bridges the gap between the Stranahan House and the Seminole Tribe, this is the start of planning for what the future will be.”
