The purpose of this event is to highlight the importance of diversity best practices in the workplace. Company representatives will share their insights about diversity and inclusion practices, and discuss the programs they have implemented in their own organizations.

Gary L. Sasso is the President and CEO of the Carlton Fields law firm. Active in community service, he has chaired the Tampa Bay Partnership and the Tocqueville Society of the United Way, and he serves on the Board of the Straz Performing Arts Center.
Under his leadership, Carlton Fields has been named the Number 1 law firm in the country for each of the last three years for “Overall Diversity,” “Diversity for Minorities,” and “Diversity for Women,” by Vault’s guide to law firms. Gary received the first Leadership Diversity Award given to any law firm leader by Diversity Best Practices, and Carlton Fields received the inaugural diversity award by the George Edgecomb Bar Association and the first award given by Equality Florida for LGBT diversity to any employer in Hillsborough County.
Gary graduated magna cum laude from Wharton. He graduated first in his class from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. He clerked for Justice Byron R. White on the U.S. Supreme Court. Gary lives in Tampa with his wife, Karen. They have three daughters.
Maureen Greene James is a Human Capital Leader with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC). In this role, Maureen is responsible for executing upon the strategy of the firm’s People Experience at the Tampa Enterprise Solutions Center (ESC), working closely with the ESC Market Council and leading the ESC Human Capital team.
Maureen joined PwC in October 2006 as the National IFS Human Capital Leader for the Finance business unit, creating and implementing the human capital vision and acting as the HR liaison between the national function and market HR teams. Prior to her current role, Maureen served as the National Talent Management Director within the Office of Diversity.
Maureen possesses over fifteen years of experience in human resources management, employee communications, learning and education, leadership development, recruiting, management of executive MBA associate programs, and diversity and inclusion initiatives. She is a professional member of the Society for Human Resource Management and a lifetime member of the National Association for African-Americans in Human Resources, where she proudly holds a seat on the Board of Directors as Senior Vice President of Branding & Communications. Active in her local community, Maureen is a lifetime member of the Lions Club International Foundation, and volunteers with Alpha House of Tampa. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Maureen also holds the Professional in Human Resources certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute.
