As the Labor Relations Director at Walmart, Kathy has more than 15 years’ experience in human resources and employee relations, managing and supporting functional areas. Kathy currently serves a leader supporting the Labor Relations functions for Florida and Puerto Rico, where she provides guidance on workplace matters. Key functions include labor relations communication and training, as well as development of strategies and implementation of short and long term associate relation plans. Her passion for talent and organizational development are well aligned to the strategic requirements of Walmart’s growth. Kathy considers being associated with Walmart’s vast growth in the Florida area one of the highlights of her career.

Kathy started her career in human resources and has held various positions in companies ranging from small to large in size, including Vice President of Human Resources. Prior to joining Walmart, Kathy worked within the retail, insurance and airline industries. In these previous roles she was responsible for providing direction and ensuring execution of human resources processes, which include coaching, talent development, succession planning, human resource planning, recruitment and selection, performance management, labor and employee relations. Throughout her career Kathy has worked to ensure that human resource strategies reflect and enable key business initiatives.

Kathy is committed to community involvement and enhancement of the workforce. She pursues this passion through her participation in Dress for Success Miami, where she serves as a board member and volunteer since 2011. Her commitment to DFS Miami is based on her desire to help unemployed and underemployed women gain professional skills. This in turn accelerates their job search and builds confidence through the coaching and training sessions provided.

Kathy was born in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic. Her family moved to New York City in the late 80’s where she completed her high school years. Since then Kathy has lived and worked in New York and Miami, Florida. One of Kathy’s biggest inspirations was her mother who acquired a law degree while being a single mother of two. Kathy, her three amazing daughters and fiancé reside in South Florida. They enjoy spending time with family and friends.
