Lori Cimino’s personal and professional life encompasses a love for diversity and a belief that ‘different is good’. Being born and raised in Miami, Florida gifted her with the ability to experience diversity from a young age and make unconscious notes that would serve her later in life. This upbringing coupled with being an athlete for the better part of her life instilled in her a desire to engage, collaborate, and be around as many people who are different from her as possible. Her college degrees are in special education with an emphasis on emotionally handicapped and deaf/hard of hearing education. She has worked in the field of education for her entire career and has been a certified professional sign language interpreter for the last 10 years. Lori and her wife Julie were married in 2015 after sharing a life for 11 years prior and were the featured couple in the New York Times ‘Vows’ column after a tremendous wedding event to celebrate marriage equality. They have two children and are proud members of the LGBT community and more importantly, the human race. Their family’s goal is to ‘Make Our World Better’ and together they released an album of this title for children and the people who love them. Lori’s high school quote in the yearbook was ‘Life is what you make of it’ and she continues to live by this quote today.
