Melissa Solberg


Melissa Solberg is the Sustainability Manager at Tampa International Airport and part of a diverse team leading the airport through an historic period of construction and growth. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Michigan State University and a Master of Architecture degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Ms. Solberg was formerly a strategic planner at Ford Land, the real estate, development and facility management arm of Ford Motor Company.

Melissa has been actively involved in sustainability since 1999 earning her LEED AP status in 2001 and garnering owner and consultant based experience on 29 LEED projects nationally and internationally. She was a founding board member of the USGBC Detroit Regional Chapter and is a former member of the Michigan State University Construction Management Alumni and Industry Advisory Board.

Melissa is currently participating on the ACI-NA Environmental committee/Sustainable Working Group and is a member of the FDOT Technical Advisory Group that is providing input on sustainability planning guidelines for Florida airports. Most recently, Melissa accepted a position on the Tampa Bay Clean Cities Coalition steering committee. She joined Tampa International Airport (TPA) in March 2015.

In her position Ms. Solberg is responsible for the continuous planning, development and implementation of TPA’s sustainability program.
