Florida Diversity & Leadership Conference was a Huge Success

On April 3, 2014 the Florida Diversity Council presented the 5th Annual Diversity & Leadership Conference. Local and statewide business leaders met at the Rosen Plaza in Orlando, Fla. to network, identify prospects for collaboration, support and develop ideals geared toward inclusion at all levels.

The Diversity & Leadership Conference serves as a source of empowerment and an example of determination to diversity prevalence in the business world and in the community at large. This year’s conference continued to be an opportunity to cultivate a positive meeting of minds to promote diversity within the multi-cultural Sunshine State.

The 2014 Multicultural Leader Award Winners included: Alfredo Richard, Bobet Bennett-Marshall, Dan Leonard, Mahmud Dhanani, Kelly Harris, Stacy Jones, Stacie Harris, Toni Howard Lowe and Will Seccombe. Awards for the category of Most Powerful & Influential Woman went to Bethany Corum, Carolyn Cauceglia, Kimberly Moore, Karen Jones, Gemma Filliben, Marlene Quintana, Maureen Green- James, Melanie Bonanno, Molly Solomon, Nancy Hennessey, Wanyonyi Kendrick, Addie Poudrier and Leticia Diaz.

Award-winning star of Ugly Betty and Director of Stage and Screen, Tony Plana gave the keynote speech. Informative breakout sessions included: Multi-cultural Leadership roundtable, Lean In, LGBTA Roundtable, Leveraging Inclusive Leadership for Business, Growth & Personal Success workshop, Secrets of a Confident Women, The Politics of Promotion: What it Takes to Get Ahead & Stay Ahead, The Art & Science of Leadership, Religious Diversity in the Workplace, Managing the Age of Change: Essential, Skills to Manage Today’s Workforce, Recruiting and Retain Diverse Talent, Young & Future Leaders, Making Sense of D & I Strategy: How to Create and Plans that Engage, Motivate & Get Results.

Local and statewide business leader are welcome to attend the 2015 Diversity & Leadership Council to gain great strides towards increasing awareness regarding the need for open dialogue and understanding of our differences. The evolution and success this conference has experienced in the past five years, is a testament to continued commitment to diversity and we expect next year to be even better.
