Amanda Buffinton

Amanda Buffinton was born in Louisville, Kentucky and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. She is an experienced trial attorney and board certified in construction law. She regularly represents clients in contract disputes, commercial lending disputes, construction litigation and professional liability litigation on behalf of design professionals, attorneys and accountants. Ms. Buffinton has successfully represented a number of large corporate clients in multi-million dollar disputes involving complex commercial and construction litigation issues.

In 1999, Ms. Buffinton earned a B.A. in Economics, summa cum laude with highest honors, from Bellarmine University in Louisville. While attending Bellarmine, Ms. Buffinton became a National Collegiate American Mock Trial Association Champion. In 2002, she graduated from Stetson University College of Law, cum laude, with M.B.A. and J.D. degrees.

Ms. Buffinton is currently a member of The Florida Bar, the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association and the American Bar Association, including the Forum on Construction Law. She is a graduate of the Tampa Connection Class of 2008 and the Leadership Tampa Class of 2011. Currently, she serves on the Board of the Federal Bar Association, Tampa Bay Chapter.

Ms. Buffinton enjoys educating others regarding professional liability issues and has provided presentations to local chapters of construction associations as well as students at the International Academy of Design and Technology and the University of South Florida through the Leadership in Engineering course.

Ms. Buffinton is passionate about diversity issues and serves as Co-Chair of the Hillsborough County Bar Association’s Diversity Committee and her firm’s Diversity Committee. Recently, Ms. Buffinton served as a panelist in the Federal Bar Association’s program entitled “Staying in the Game: Women, Leadership and the Law.” In May 2014, Ms. Buffinton co-authored an article entitled “Retention and Promotion of Female Attorneys – What Can We Do Better?” published in The Lawyer magazine by the Hillsborough County Bar Association. In 2005, Ms. Buffinton authored an article “Women in the Legal Profession: Taking Advantage of Our Differences,” published in the American Bar Association’s “The 101 Practice Series: Breaking Down the Basics.”

Ms. Buffinton been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Florida Super Lawyers magazine since 2009, and among the “Up & Coming Legal Elite” by Florida Trend magazine in 2012 and 2014. Ms. Buffinton has been awarded a preeminent AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
